Hospice of Volusia/Flagler began as an all-volunteer organization in 1979, serving 60 patients in its first year. Today, Hospice teams of professional staff serve
thousands of patients and their loved ones each year with the help of more than 300 volunteers.

Volunteers complete 16 hours of a personalized core orientation offered at various locations throughout Volusia and Flagler counties. Ongoing in-service training and
special programs are provided monthly. Volunteers fill a number of different roles. They provide patient/family care, assist with bereavement support, offer office support, participate in public
relations activities, and bring smiles to patients and family members as members of the Caring Clowns program.

Our Young Hearts and Hands for Hospice teenage volunteer program offers local teens the opportunity to perform office duties, do light housework, make nursing home
visits, assist with children's bereavement programs, and become members of the Caring Clowns program.
