How far has Halifax Medical Center come since itd its doors in 1928?
Answer: Today, Halifax Medical Center's emergency services include the only trauma  center in the region and Florida's third busiest emergency department. Halifax  Heart Center is Florida's most modern heart care center. Other features include the nationally-recognized Kerman Regional Oncology Centers for Clinical  Research; the Family BirthPlace which has welcomed more babies to Volusia County than any other location and the area's only Neonatal Intensive Care and  Pediatric Intensive Care Units.

Halifax has the region's most comprehensive  Breast Health Center and Central Florida's first bone marrow transplant unit. Our community health programs are based on outreach clinics and urgent care centers in several east Volusia County locations. We offer radiology treatment  and imaging centers which are equipped and staffed at a level to rival many  teaching hospitals and metropolitan health centers. Halifax Behavioral Services is the largest provider of psychiatric and psychological services for children  and adolescents
in the region and we offer comprehensive rehabilitation and  fitness programs keyed to the most modern responses to orthopedic, pulmonary and  cardiac procedures and needs.

Question: What is the history of Halifax Medical Center?
Answer: On January 3, 1928, "Halifax District Hospital"d its doors. It was built atop the highest point in the Daytona Beach area and was considered to be far on  the outskirts of town and that year 27 team members cared for 1,418 patients. Since  then Halifax Medical Center has operated continuously in the community for over  70 years. From 1942 to 1947 it joined the national war effort, serving the U.S. Army as a convalescent hospital. At the end of its military service, it was  completely remodeled and red as an acute care general hospital. With 764 beds, Halifax Medical Center is the recognized leader in providing comprehensive health care and services to the communities of Florida's Funcoast (East Central  Florida).
