Homicide-related grief counseling is available to children and adults.
Survivors may choose from individual, family and group counseling. Counseling is available in Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Orange City, DeLand, and Flagler County. For more information call Marjorie Lamphear in East

Support Groups
The Lawrence E. Whelan
BeginAgain Children's GriefCenter, a service of Halifax Behavioral Services, offers grief support programs especially for young people. The Center is a special place where children and families can express their
grief and learn positive ways to cope with the loss of a loved one in a supportive and caring environment. Children age 3 to 18 participate in a variety of different activities such as art, play, movement, rituals
and open discussion to help facilitate the healing process. Adult support groups are held simultaneously for parents. The Center, with locations in East and West Volusia, is formatted after the nationally known
Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon. It is staffed by volunteer facilitators who have completed an extensive training program that is conducted by a licensed bereavement counselor. For information call 386-258-5100 or

Support Groups
This group recognizes and responds to men's different bereavement needs. It is run by a

New Beginnings-Support Group
Support Groups
Mutual support and friendship is offered in small, informal groups to help adults
adjust to a new lifestyle after the loss of a loved one. These seven-week sessions are offered in Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Palm Coast and DeLand. For specific dates, times and locations, call Hospice of

This Hospice of Volusia/Flagler group provides an opportunity for social interaction

Restorative Retelling Group
Support Groups
This 10-week group is for persons who have lost a loved one due to homicide,
suicide, or accident. With violent deaths, many family members get stuck in the retelling, or the reliving, of how the loved one died.
This group will assist with a form of retelling that aids in the healing process. This group is not recommended for anyone who's loss occurred less than 6 months prior to the start of the group. Registration is required. Please call 386-258-3237 for more information.
