Bone Marrow Transplant Program
Central Florida's First BMT Program

Health Information

The Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Halifax Medical Center is one of the largest programs of its kind in Florida and was the first to be established in Central Florida. It is also a member of the North American Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplant Registry (ABMTR), an international data base on transplant programs worldwide.

National transplant protocals are offered as a member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG).

The Halifax BMT Program is part of the comprehensive cancer care program, accredited by the Commission on Cancer since 1956. The Halifax cancer care program is one of the largest oncology programs in Florida and each year cares for over 1400 new patients with cancer diagnoses.

The Josephine Field Davidson Cancer Resource Library located on the first floor or the Kerman Regional Oncology Center at Halifax Medical Center's main campus, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Materials in the library include pamphlets, magazines, audiotapes, videotapes, and an Internet connection to obtain the latest information available via the World Wide Web. Volunteers at the library help cancer patients, their families, students, and members of the community to use the library's resources.

Kerman Regional Oncology Center

Health Information

The Herbert D. Kerman Regional Oncolgoy Centers (ROC) provide outpatient cancer treatment as part of the Halifax Medical Center comprehensive cancer program, accredited by the Commission on Cancer since 1956. We are affiliated with national research centers and with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute at the University of South Florida in Tampa. This enables medical and radiation oncologists at Halifax to offer patients the latest and most promising treatments available through natinal clinical research trials. The ROC programs include outpatient medical and radiation oncology services; The Breast Health Center; counseling and support groups; clinical research; and screening and detection services.

The Halifax cancer program also offers a specialized inpatient oncology unit and Central Florida's first bone marrow transplant program on the main campus in Daytona Beach. Outpatient services are provided at three locations in Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach and New Smyrna Beach.
